St. Louis, MO - Australian ace Chad Reed rode to his sixth runner up finish of the season, but championship rival Carmichael (Suzuki) claimed the win at the Edward Jones Dome in Saint Louis. Kevin Windham (Honda) finished third, with Yamaha Factory Racing rider David Vuillemin fourth. Nine rounds into the AMA Supercross series, Ricky Carmichael leads with 217 points, Chad Reed is second with 182 points, and Windham is third with 156 points. Vuillemin is now fifth in standings.
Carmichael earned the holeshot, ahead of Honda’s Ernesto Fonseca and Chad Reed. Reed passed Fonseca for second place on lap three but was unable to catch Carmichael. Vuillemin came fourth, Tim Ferry was tenth. South-African Grant Langston (Kawasaki), won his second consecutive 125cc Eastern race, extending his season points lead to seven points. Davi Millsaps (Suzuki) came home second while Josh Hansen (KTM) followed not far behind in third. Yamaha of Troy duo Brock Sellards and Kelly Smith were respectively tenth and eleventh.
Round ten takes place in Daytona Beach, Florida next Friday (March 11).
